Wabash Trace Thursday Night Ride

Here are a few pictures from a recent Thursday night out on the Wabash Trace. As you can see everyone was having a great time, even the little ones. The weather is still great to get out on the trail but if you are going out there in the evening remember that you will need a light because it is getting darker sooner and always wear a helmet. A jacket is also a good idea because it can get chilly on the ride back in the dark.

Mayor's Bike Ride

The Bike Rack was well represented at the Mayor's Ride to kick off Bike to Work Week. There were two ride lengths with the short ride going to the Quest Center. The longer ride went west on Farnum St. to Happy Hollow Blvd then to Wohlners Grocery on Leavenworth for a food and drink stop. The ride then continued back to the starting point. It was a beautiful day for a bike ride and there was a great turnout. We could have cycled all day, just stopping at different eateries to fuel up, but that will have to be a different ride.

Where has the month gone?

Yes I know it has been a month since the last post but it has been a busy month here at the shop. We had a great time with our Women's Night even though the weather canceled the original day. We were also busy with the Super Sale, which saw some great deals and a lot of bikes heading out the door. And of course who could forget the great weather (well except this week). When the weather is this nice it is tough to be inside on the computer.
Since the last post we have brought in a few new products that will make the ride a lot more enjoyable.

Two new products to the store are made by Assos and are designed to keep you comfortable on the saddle and to keep you riding clothes nice and clean.

The first product is the Assos Chamois Creme. Assos Chamois Creme is especially formulated for all real and synthetic short pad. It actually prolongs the pads life while it reduces friction, increases coolness, and prevents bacterial and fungal infections (saddle sores). Most important is that the ASSOS chamois creme washes out with each washing. Put a thin layer on after washing and before you ride. An absolute must for total comfort in the saddle.

The next new product by Assos is the Assos Active Wear Cleaner. The Assos Active Wear Cleaner is designed to help keep all of your sportswear clean. Breathable, functional sportswear requires special wash and care to maintain the superior technical characteristics of the clothing. When laundering it is recommend to use traditional hand washing using Assos Active Wear Cleanser. It is delicate on elastic fibres, pH neutral, neutralizes odors, enhances breathability of textiles and maintains sharp color sublimation. The Assos Active Wear Cleaner is designed with an antibacterial treatment, it neutralizes odor and gives the textile a soft and comfortable surface against the skin. It is also PH-neutral and skin friendly.

Just in from Trek - Incite ACH Computer and Turbocharger Fit Pump

We just received two great new products from Trek that will help make your cycling more fun and efficient.
The Trek Incite ACH cycling computer has just about everything you could want in a computer. It has the standard features such as current, average, max. speed plus trip and odometer distance as well as time and temperature. The Incite ACH also has some features that many other computers don't. This computer also shows your heart rate, altitude, % grade, and cadence. The computer is wireless (unless you are using the cadence mount) so it gives a nice clean look to your bike and is easier to install.
The Bontrager Turbocharger Fit pump is designed with the women in mind. This pump is designed with a smaller diameter barrel and a multi-position handle for extra leverage, which makes it easy to pump and is ideal for smaller users. The Turbocharger Fit also uses an auto-select head to instantly fits both Presta and Schrader valves and has a raised gauge to eliminate eye strain by putting pressure information within easy view. Finally the built-in air release valve makes it easy to dial-in just the right amount of pressure in your tires.
Stop in today to check out these two things as well as some of the other great new products arriving daily.

EVERYONE CAN USE MORE FIBER

Carbon that is. Add the new TREK 7.9 FX to your cycling diet. This lightweight tips the scales at a scant 2o lbs (20" frame) and comes with clipless pedals, carbon seatpost and handlebars, Ultegra rear derailleur, triple chainrings and 10 speed cassette. And scandalously beautiful. It's cleared for takeoff at the Bike Rack.

Take your kids on your next event ride with the KDR 7.2fx.

If you enjoy doing event rides such as the Corporate Cycling Challenge or rides such as BRAN and you want your kids to come along this is the bike for them. The Trek KDR 7.2fx is build just like the adult hybrid version only smaller. Until now, there haven't been a lot of choices for kids bikes besides the mountain bike style. However, for a lot of kids, the mountain bike may not be the best option for them. For the mostly hard packed or paved surfaces or on longer rides, a hybrid bike usually works best so in steps the KDR 7.2fx youth hybrid. The Trek KDR 7.2fx is a 24 inch wheel version of the adult Trek 7.2fx with almost all the same components. If you notice your child struggling to keep up on your next family ride bring them in and have them check out the new KDR 7.2fx. Let them see what a difference in ease and speed a hybrid style bike can make.

"Addict"ed to weight savings

We received our first Scott Addict R2 roadie in the shop last week and you won't believe how light it is! Keep in mind the R2 is a Dura-Ace equipped version with Kysrium ES wheels and with the golden platform test ride pedals it weighed in at 14.55lbs!!!! For comparison purposes a Madone SL 5.9 tips the scales a little closer to 15.8lbs! Is the extra pound worth it? How different will it feel being that much lighter? There's only one way to find out......
